On the latest track from their recent self-titled release, soul/hip-hop sextet Deep Rooted recruited veteran producer Exile to assist with the group's eclectic sound. The result was the track "Closer" - a perfect example of Deep Rooted's new "feel good" hip-hop music. Exile does his job in creating a beat well suited for the group, as he mixes handclap backbeats with soulful guitar lines and gospel organ. Verses from Johaz and Mr. Brady have an edge that contrasts with the laid back groove, but singer Just Brea brings everything together, providing a chorus that soulfully melds each section together. Look for "Closer" and more tracks from D.E.E.P. R.O.O.T.E.D., available via Clear Label Records (run by Tajai of Souls of Mischief & Hieroglyphics fame).
